Dear Prim and Pimp

How do you juggle being a mom and still find the time to take care of yourself?

A: This is a question that a lot of my community members ask me. A lot of people see me on my Instagram or YouTube and think that I have my shit together. But the truth is that I do not, and I struggle with balancing my public persona with my full-time mom role.

My first piece of advice is to NEVER compare yourself to others, because what you see online or within your group of friends is not the full picture. Instead, trust in yourself and know that you are doing a great job. Do not sweat the little things, focus on the big things. If you have a crazy day and dinner's not ready on time do not stress, just pick up the phone and order a pizza! The main importance is that your family is fed. Sometimes we all need to cut corners to survive.

Another important thing is to make sure you take care of yourself. Your entire family relies on you so if you do not take care of yourself then there is no one to take care of your family. It may be hard at first but try to schedule little things that help with your mental state. For example, book off one night a week where you can light some candles, turn on your favourite tunes, lock the bathroom door and just relax. I also love waking up early before the rest of the house and fit in a workout (a strong body leads to a strong mind). Self care is so important because it will give you the energy to do the 10 million things that you have to do. Just remember to start small and work your way up to the big things.

Xoxo
